ARTUR DUTKIEWICZ
Artur Dutkiewicz - Polish jazz pianists and composer.
He graduated from The Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland and received diploma with distinction.
Decorated by the Polish Ministry of Culture and Heritage with the silver medal “Meritorious for Culture Gloria Artis”.
The pianist was a finalist of the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington, USA.
He was the first Polish musician who gave solo recital at MIDEM in Cannes.
Artur Dutkiewicz is called "the ambassador of Polish jazz" /Jazz Forum Magazine/; he is one of the most concerting abroad Polish jazz musicians. In the last few years he performed in more than 70 countries around the world from the United States via Europe, Africa, Asia to Australia and New Zealand.
Artur plays solo recitals. Also he is the leader of the Artur Dutkiewicz Trio playing modern jazz.
He recorded 7 his own albums and many more with other artists.
The pianist is the first jazz musician who composed and released a cycle of 19 mazurkas (Artur Dutkiewicz "Mazurki" 2012)
Dutkiewicz performed at dozens of renowned jazz and music festivals around the world such as: Northsea Jazz Festival – Hague, Jazz Jamboree – Warsaw, Campnagel Theater – Hamburg, Festival Kleiner Bunchen – Bern, MIDEM – Cannes, Music Oggi – Milan, Festival D`Europe Centrale – Paris, Europe XXL – Vienna, Sziget Festival – Budapest, Glasgov Jazz Festival, Duesseldorf Jazz Rally, World Culture Festival - Berlin, Notturni in Palestro Festival - Milan, BJ Ninegates Jazz Festival – Beijing, Utsav Jazz Festival – New Delhi, Melbourne Jazz Festival.
In 2011 Arthur Dutkiewicz performed on the Olympic Stadium in Berlin at the World Culture Festival. Especially for this event he arranged and played in a group of pianists from around the world the piece for 30 pianos. The concert heard by 35 thousand people, was an expression of respect for the diversity of cultures and the message of peace to the world.
He also performed on the stage of the innovative Ryszard Gwalbert Miśek Instrumental Theater performing there as an actor and musician (the so-called muzitor), co-creating music for the plays "Kafka's Process" and "Tenant's Dance".
Since 1987, he has been teaching piano at the International Jazz Workshops in Puławy and Chodzież (Poland)
He often sat on the jury of the International Jazz Pianists Competition in Kalisz (Poland)
In 2006 and 2008 he was chairman of the jury at the International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Vilnius (Latvia)
He has run many MasterClass for students around the world: China, Latvia, Mexico, Tunisia, Peru, Philippines, Turkey.
